Lady Gaga Gets Waxed!

When it comes to making a statement, Lady Gaga is up there with the most memorable you might ever come across. Her costumes are works of art in themselves, so it made sense that when Madame Tussauds proposed to immortalize the "Paparazzi" singer in wax, they create not one, but eight statues in her image that would be unveiled across the globe on Thursday December 9, 2010 -- each featuring a different outfit from Gaga's vast archive of eccentric looks.

The London figure shows the "Telephone" singer in her Philip Treacy-designed telephone hat, which she first debuted on "Friday Night With Jonathan Ross" in March 2010. The duplicate hat for her British doppelganger was recreated by the famous milliner, so we're assuming the original is still in her walk-in wardrobe somewhere. A midnight blue Giorgio Armani Prive suit completed her London look.

"The demand to include Lady Gaga has been overwhelming and we are more than happy to oblige," said Madame Tussauds London's General Manager, Edward Fuller, adding, "We are delighted to have been able to work with Philip Treacy to ensure the look is spot on and look forward to seeing the other styles at our sister attractions as they go public across the day."

As the looks rolled out around the globe -- Shanghai, Hong Kong, Berlin, Amsterdam, New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles -- fans were treated to the sight of some of Gaga's most memorable style moments. The Lady's trendsetting Minnie Mouse bow hairdo sat atop the Berlin waxwork, which also sported the thigh-high lace-up boots the singer wore while out partying in London with British singer Mika.
Dutch Gaga sported a giant purple and platinum wig, while Hong Kong Gaga opted for a harlequin-inspired look, and Shanghai replicated her famous wire "wing" dress. New York showcases the wide-brim "hair hat" the singer wore in Las Vegas last January. The performer's final look, "Lady in Lace" revealed at the Hollywood outpost features an outfit Gaga wore at the 2010 Brit Awards, including an Alex Noble lace body stocking and Philip Tracey face mask, topped off with the Marie Antoinette style hairstyle.

The Guardian reports that the process of creating the eight lifelike Gaga figures took four months to complete at the Merlin studio in London, and cost almost $2 million.
