Bicycle bomb kills policeman in Quetta

QUETTA: A bicycle bomb exploded Friday in Quetta, killing a policeman, Sub Inspector Dawood, and wounding seven others, police said.

The bomb exploded as a police vehicle passed in the suburbs of Quetta, a senior police official said.

"At least one policeman was martyred and three others and a passer-by were injured in the bomb blast," he said.

Local police station officials also confirmed the attack and casualties.

Plane Crew Thwart Hijack China

BEIJING: Crew and passengers traveling on a plane that had just taken off from a restive city in China s far-western Xinjiang region on Friday thwarted a hijack attempt by six people, authorities said.The plane returned safely to the airport and the six have been detained, a brief statement on the Xinjiang government s news website said, without detailing who the hijackers were.
